Empowering parents

Research shows that helping parents build a support network may be the best means of preventing child abuse and neglect. With in-home instruction and community resources, we help parents meet the challenges of parenting and create a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for their children.

Empowering parents with education and support

Children don't come with an instruction book - so one of the greatest assets we can provide to parents is knowledge. Personal and financial difficulties can create significant barriers for parents - even those who are invested in promoting optimal emotional and intellectual wellbeing for their children. The Exchange Center helps empower parents with activities, community resources and personal help within a family's home that help create a healthy, safe and nurturing environment.

Whether we're illustrating the development stages of a child's growth, providing career coaching or helping a single parent secure housing, our programs are designed around the unique needs of each family.

  • Welcome Baby helps first-time parents face daily challenges, answers their questions, build confidence in their parenting skills, and helps them understand and monitor the development of their baby from birth to 3 years.
  • Early Childhood Initiative provides parental support, education and employment counseling to pregnant women and caregivers of children under the age of three in three areas of Dane County - Madison's Allied Drive neighborhood, Southwest Madison and Sun Prairie.
  • Parents and Children Together (PACT) helps families headed by parents with cognitive limitations cope with the challenges that make it difficult to keep their family together.
